SnapSkincare AI works without an account. You do not sign in, and we do not create a profile of you.

Information We Collect

Photographs of products. When you scan a product, the photo is uploaded so it can be analysed. Photos are automatically deleted after five days. They are never included in any summary, report, or PDF the app produces.

Medications you type. If you enter medications, they are sent to our analysis service and checked against publicly available FDA drug label data. They are used to produce your result and are never stored or logged.

Report details, if you prepare an FDA report. These may include your age, weight, sex, symptoms, and — only if you choose not to report anonymously — your email or phone number. They are sent to our service solely to generate your summary and pre-filled form, and are never written to any database or file. The service that handles them has no permission to store data anywhere; this is enforced by our infrastructure, not only by policy.

Usage counts. We record counts of activity — how many scans were run, how many reports were prepared. These counts contain no user identifier, session, device identifier, IP address, or personal information of any kind.

IP address, for abuse prevention. Our servers record the network address of requests in order to limit how many can be made in an hour, which protects the service from misuse. These records hold only a network address and a request count. They are not linked to your scans, your reports, or anything else you do in the app, and are never used to identify or track you.

Optional: contributing a de-identified safety record

Adverse reactions to skincare are only recorded after someone is harmed and files a report. Which product and medication combinations people actually use together is not recorded anywhere. If you choose to contribute, we store a de-identified record of the categories involved.

What is stored

• A product category, such as “retinoid” or “vitamin C”
• A medication category, such as “oral antibiotic” — only if you entered medications
• Whether the combination was flagged, and how seriously
• A reaction category, if you completed the report wizard
• The date

What is never stored

Your name, email, photo, IP address, device identifier, the product brand or name, the medication you typed, your age, your location, or any free text you wrote.

Your medication is converted to a general category on your phone, before anything is sent, so the words you typed never leave your device for this purpose.

These records contain nothing that identifies you and cannot be traced back to you or linked to your other activity. They are retained indefinitely and may be published as aggregate counts. Because they contain nothing identifying, they cannot be individually retrieved or deleted after submission — please only contribute if you are comfortable with that.

This is not a report to FDA. Nothing is sent to FDA, and contributing does not file anything.

How We Use Your Information

• Analyse skincare products in uploaded images
• Provide routine and layering guidance
• Check medications against FDA drug label data for potential interactions
• Generate a summary or a pre-filled FDA Form 3500B at your request
• Prevent abuse of the service through rate limiting
• Count usage, using data that identifies no one

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, or profiling, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Documents the App Creates

Your summary PDF and your pre-filled FDA Form 3500B are generated on your phone. They are not uploaded to us and we never receive a copy. What you do with them afterwards is entirely up to you.

Filing With FDA

The app can open FDA’s MedWatch form, either inside the app or in your browser. Either way you are then using FDA’s own website, and anything you enter there goes to FDA under their privacy policy, not ours.

We never submit a report on your behalf, and we do not see what you enter into FDA’s form.

Data Storage and Security

Data is processed on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Analysis uses Amazon Bedrock under terms that prohibit using your content to train models. Drug label information comes from FDA’s public openFDA service.

We use file validation, rate limiting, encrypted transmission, and least-privilege access controls. The service that handles report contents is technically prevented from writing them anywhere.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

We use service providers — principally Amazon Web Services — to process data on our behalf, and they may not use it for their own purposes. We may disclose information if required by law.

Your Choices

• Use the app without an account and without contributing anything.
• The de-identified contribution is optional every time and off by default.
• Report to FDA anonymously, without giving contact details.
• To have an uploaded photo removed sooner than five days, contact us.
• De-identified contributions cannot be withdrawn individually, because nothing in them identifies you.

Children

SnapSkincare AI is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We will update this page and revise the date above when this policy changes.
